4pm: Video report – pair of lovebirds are centre of attention

Two Peregrine Falcons nesting in the spire of Leicester Cathedral are being watched closely by bird enthusiasts as well as by fascinated passers-by. James Cannell investigates.

2:45pm: Leicester explosion update

Leicester City Council have now announced that the A47 Hinkley Road has now been reopened fully after the explosion on February 25th. All closures have now been lifted and traffic is said to be running well.

2:30pm: National Pet Day!

They couldn’t have picked a better day. On National Pet Day, Leicestershire Police have released an article stating that their first litter of five police puppies are going to their new handlers this Friday.

2:15pm: Traffic updates

Traffic signal failure on Freemen’s Common Road has caused slow traffic Westbound at Counting House Road. Traffic lights were stuck on red outside Morrisons.

DMU Students enjoyed a week away skiing in the Pyrenees mountains of Andorra during the Easter break. Reporter Beth Surridge was on the trip and got some great footage of students.

12:15pm: Death toll rises again

At least 247 are now dead after a military plane crash in Algeria, media says. The BBC have said 26 members of the Polisario Front, supported by Algeria and seeking independence from Morocco for Western Sahara are said to be among those dead.

12:05pm: Trump tweet alert

Even by Trump’s standards, he has really outdone himself in his most recent tweet… targeted at Russia.

12pm: Algerian military crash update

It has now been reported that 181 people have died in the Algerian military plane crash south of the capital.

10:45am: Summer is coming…

Fed up of the wet and cold winter? Don’t worry, the Met Office have said that temperatures are expected to rise next week with high’s of 18 degrees, the highest temperature of the year so far.

10:15am: Breaking news

According to The Associated Press, Algerian Radio has said over 100 people have died in a military plane crash south of the countries capital. Reports have said that 14 ambulances were at the scene transferring injured to hospital.
