A former De Montfort University student has enjoyed success at a Leicester-based business following their graduation this summer.
Isabel (Izzy) Quinn, 23, is originally from Nuneaton and gained a First Class degree in graphic design and illustration.

She says the thing she likes most about her graphic designer role in the local T-shirt business is “getting to chat about the briefs and designs together” as it is “an important part of the creative process.”
Izzy took an extra year at university, originally enrolling in fashion styling and communication. Being inspired by digital creation, however, saw her change to the course which has allowed her creativity to flow and her career to blossom.
When asked about her time there, she said she would recommend it to “…everyone I’ll ever meet…” and talked about the extremely reliable and supportive nature of the tutors.
She also highlighted the “life changing opportunities” of internships and freelance work, which saw her designs displayed in shop windows throughout Leicester.
It wasn’t only a career Izzy found through DMU though, as this is also where she met her best friend and partner. Naming it as her favourite part of life at DMU, she said that these are “strong relationships that will last a lifetime.”
Borui Ma (Eddie), 26, graduated in 2024 with a degree in game arts. He is originally from China but has made a move to Leicester, following the completion of his course, to be with Izzy.
A favourite spot of theirs on campus is The Castle on Castle View, which they would pick out for a “super lowkey, lovely little lunch.”
Eddie and Izzy shared many lunch dates there while studying at DMU and they serve staples such as fish and chips, burgers and veggie curries. You can find their full menu at benpimlico.com/our-menu.
