Floating sound baths coming to Leicester after family’s journey to healing

By Hannah Wiles

A floating sound bath experience that helps participants relax is coming to Leicester this December.

Serenity Waves, launched by Shropshire couple Kevin and Derren Bimpson, is touring the UK with its successful meditation sessions.

“It’s an opportunity for people to relax,” Kevin said. “It’s an immersive experience through sound and vibrations, and the water element intensifies the benefits.”

All calm: participants unwind while floating in the pool

The business began last year when Derren spent months bed-bound with a severe condition that made her pregnancy long and gruelling, so the couple began to search for anything that could bring her relief.

They discovered sound baths online and tried it out for themselves, which not only transformed their wellbeing but inspired them to create Serenity Waves.

The couple added a twist to the traditional sound bath – where you’re immersed in deep sound vibrations – that had helped Derren stay calm during her difficult pregnancy with their son, Alby.

They combined the experience with water, hosting sessions in leisure centre pools across the country to amplify the therapeutic effects.

During each 90-minute session, guests float on water while surrounded by the soothing tones of crystal bowls, gongs, and chimes.

Dim lighting and lavender diffusers create a calming atmosphere designed to help participants reach the perfect state of calm.

Kevin said: “What tends to happen is an overwhelming emotional release, negative thoughts and feelings are allowed to be released.”

A balanced blend: music is played throughout the session

Despite scepticism from some, Serenity Waves has earned a loyal following. Kevin said many arrive uncertain but leave feeling with a sense of transformation, and eagerness to return.

He added: “I was a sceptic myself before I tried it. Now I run sessions for thousands of people.”

The business proudly claims its success as the UK’s number one floating sound bath experience with sessions regularly selling out, and a growing community of people returning for the calm it brings.

After a string of sell-out events, Serenity Waves is hosting its first Leicester session in Wigston on Wednesday, December 7, which sold out within days. A January date was added and quickly sold out too.

Nonetheless, the business aims to return to Leicester monthly and expand its retreats, introducing yoga, breathwork, and sleepover sessions.

“People always say they wish it lasted longer,” Kevin said.

“That’s the best feedback we could ask for.”
