Students on De Montfort University’s Arts and Entertainment Journalism module pick the films, plays, music,TV shows and books that shaped them.
My favourite film
Rush Hour, but I can’t decide between the first or second one. They are both classics with two of my favourite actors, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. Both films combine comedy with a serious storyline. I watch them a few times every year.
The TV show I’m currently watching
At the minute it is the David Beckham documentary on Netflix. As a football fan I feel this is a must-watch series, as it has to be one of the most-viewed shows in the UK at the moment.
The lyric I love
‘Clock makes a fool of history.’ Motorhead, in their song Line in the Sand.
The book I couldn’t put down
Holes by Louis Sachar. The film is good, but the book is great. I read it a long time ago but it is still a book I remember.
Overrated
Sky Sports is overrated especially the football channels. The price they charge is ridiculous for the content they put out. This is more evident this season where on ‘Super Sunday’ sometimes there is only one game. For example, one weekend they showed Nottingham Forest vs Brentford. No disrespect to the teams but this is not ‘super.’
Underrated
The French TV show Lupin. A great drama full of twists and turns. Every detail is thought out and conveyed perfectly.
