Vintage clothing will be on sale by the kilo at De Montfort University’s students’ union building today (TUE, Oct11) as a part of Vintage Vera’s university tour.
West Yorkshire based Vintage clothing sellers Vintage Vera will be setting up inside the De Montfort Students’ Union building from 10am to 5pm, offering one kilo of clothing for £20.
The company hosts regular university tours and will be travelling to Hertfordshire after Leicester and will continue its tour of 9 university destinations this week.
Vintage Vera promotes itself as a sustainable organisation, stating that “By Shopping at Vintage Vera, you are consuming consciously, becoming involved in the recycling and circular economy, the most sustainable way to keep up with fashion.”
The company does also offer “unique vintage pieces”, stating that they are “Grade A” and come directly from the United States.
Madelaine Forster, a masters student at De Montfort, said: “I love vintage clothing and the fact that the DSU organised this right on campus makes it easy to just go through and hopefully find something of good quality at a reasonable price.”
De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU) routinely hosts clothing sales and students at previous events by Vintage Vera have purchased clothing from Levis, Adidas and Ralph Lauren through a system described as “like buying fruit and veg from the greengrocers” with bulk clothing orders being processed on weight instead of per item.
More information on the event can be found at the Vintage Vera Facebook page as well as on De Montfort Students’ Unions Social Media feeds.
