Spectacular sales have been recorded for the Leicestershire charity Age UK with the opening of a brand new shop.
A brand new Age UK charity shop opened last Thursday on Horsefair Street in Leicester and it has already got off to a booming start.
Shop manager Claire Gourley said: “It’s been a fantastic few days. We opened on Thursday and the weekend has been amazing. Lots of people have been in.”
“We have opened with spring stock from our other stores. We are always grateful for any donations we receive like clothes, furniture and bric-a-brac. Right now we really need men’s clothes and being a new shop we would welcome more volunteers.”
The charity shops have received all manner of donations over the years including unique, vintage furniture and designer labelled clothes.
Ms Gourley added: “I think the shops in a really nice position here and we try to set the standard of quality at Age UK. It’s a fantastic charity to support and be involved with. Hopefully people will continue to come in and shop”.
The Age UK charity is made up of 170 local branches and supports elderly people in remaining independent and out of care homes for as long as possible. The new shop works specifically in the Leicestershire and Rutland areas with the local ageing community.
