Whitwick Parish Council has announced plans to launch the first Whitwick Christmas light competition.

The event will take place on Friday December 5 and include prizes for the best decorated house, best garden/tree and best window.

Organiser Lisa Collins, 45, said: “The aim is to get people around the village, chatting to people you don’t normally do and creating a community spirit.”

Plans also include a brass band, carols and a variety of stalls commencing at 7.30pm in the Whitwick Constitutional Club.

The public will decide the winner on Monday December 22.
