Artist Keith Piper headlines All Shades of Brown conference in Leicester

By Grace Gumpo

A one-day conference will take place next week designed to uplift and connect global ethnic majority creatives.

All Shades of Brown will offer panels and workshops on funding, sustaining a career in the Midlands, maintaining cultural authenticity, overcoming systemic barriers and accessibility in creative practice.

All Shades of Brown is the Midlands’ first and only creative industries conference created by and for creatives from the global majority.

Headlined by artist Keith Piper, an educator and founding member of the BLK Art Group, the conference aims to provide access to sector leaders, practical guidance and the tools needed to navigate systemic barriers while building sustainable creative careers.

The Voice newspaper reported: “Piper will deliver a keynote exploring his artistic journey, the transformation of the UK’s cultural landscape, and the urgent work still required to achieve genuine equity for Black and Brown creatives.”

This event will be held at The Venue at De Montfort University, in Western Boulevard, on Thursday(FEB5), from 10am until 5pm.
