Plans for dog walking field in Coleorton approved with long-term biodiversity scheme

By Leon Singh

North West Leicestershire District Council has approved planning permission for a dog walking field at Loughborough Road, Coleorton, submitted by Mr and Mrs Iliffe.

The decision, confirmed on January 16, allows a change of use of land, creation of a new access, associated fencing, and hardstanding.

The field will operate from 7am to 8.30pm on weekdays and 9am to 6pm on weekends and public holidays, with a maximum of four dogs and one handler at any time to limit disruption to nearby residents.

Joe Mitson, of GHM Planning Ltd, representing the applicants, said: “This development balances community use with environmental protection, providing a safe space for dog owners while safeguarding the local area.”

A Biodiversity Gain Plan is also in place, with habitat management and monitoring for 30 years, alongside precautions for potential coal mining risks.

Mr Iliffe added: “We’re delighted to create a safe, eco-conscious space for dogs and wildlife alike.”
