Swiftogeddon set to return to Leicester this February after euphoric October night

Swiftogeddon, the fan-led Taylor Swift club night, is set to return to Leicester this February following the success of its October event, which organisers described as “joyous, inclusive” and “euphoric.”

The Taylor Swift-themed night will return to the O2 Academy on Friday, February 20, after drawing a highly engaged crowd to the city last autumn.

Dave Fawbert, the founder of Swiftogeddon, said the Leicester show stood out as a particular special date on their tour, marking the city’s first Swiftogeddon event since the release of Swift’s latest album, The Life of a Showgirl.

Reflecting on the October night, Mr Fawbert said every show they run has “an amazing atmosphere,” adding: “It’s such a pure, joyous night where everyone is there for the same thing, to celebrate a generational songwriting and musical talent.”

He described the Leicester crowd as “fun, emotional and euphoric.”

It was said the October Leicester show felt unique because every track from Swift’s new album was played alongside highlights from her wider discography, with a “great reaction” to every song.

”There was a real excitement in the room every time a new one got played,” Mr Fawbert said.

Swiftogeddon has become known for its strong sense of community, which was noted by the organiser.

”We’ve tried to create a space where whenever you come to Swiftogeddon, you’re partying with like-minded people, all of whom are potential friends,” Mr Fawbert said.

”From the stage, it just seems like everyone is happy to be there and welcoming of everyone who comes along.”

The Leicester audience also experienced moments unique to that night, including standout reactions to songs such as Fate of Ophelia and Opalite, which were described as highlights of the night.

Swiftogeddon differs from other themed club nights because Mr Fawbert said it is “created from a place of simply being a fan.”

“It is 100% authentic. There are no gimmicks, it is about taking people on a cohesive journey through Taylor’s music and encouraging them to forget the outside world for a few hours.”

Following the strong response in Leicester, organisers confirmed the event’s return to the city next month.

”Of course we’ll be back,” Mr Fawbert said.

”We’ve done many shows in Leicester now, and we’re returning in February, and later in the year too.”

Swiftogeddon returns to the O2 Academy on February 20.
