DMU’s student magazine has released its Winter 2025-26 edition, marking the first winter issue in several years and continuing its push to involve students from across the university.
The Demon Mag last year published a series of monthly publications beginning in November, but this release is the first winter edition after a long pause in seasonal printing.
Dan Ball, the editor-in-chief said: “It’s amazing.
“I really enjoy guiding everyone and getting their work sent over. It’s nice that students feel able to express themselves and write about what they’re interested in.”
First-year students played a significant role in the seasonal edition.
Dan added: “First years are very enthusiastic, which is encouraging and sets them up very well for the rest of their time at university.”
The magazine was published shortly after the end of term, making it difficult to accurately measure readership.
However, nearly all of the copies left around campus have since been picked up.
“That’s a positive sign,” the editor-in-chief said.
“We made a couple of mistakes, but ultimately it looks great and professional.”
Looking ahead to 2026, the team plans to increase advertising and promotion across DMU’s campus.
This includes designating specific locations where copies will be displayed and potentially handing them out directly to students.
There are also hopes for the magazine to return to a monthly release schedule and Dan is hoping to continue leading the publication into his third year.
“We want everyone on campus to know about us,” Dan said.
Students are encouraged to contribute to The Demon, no matter what subjects they study.
Dan added: “The aim is to reflect the students, not the higher-ups.
“Everyone is welcome to speak their voice through words.”
