From Cameroon to Leicester, The CrissCross Foundation empowers immigrant communities

By Laiba Saleem

A non-profit organisation from Cameroon which provides support to West African immigrants, including asylum seekers and the homeless, helping them find hope, stability, and opportunities for a better future, is now based in Leicester.

The Crisscross Foundation has expanded its impact internationally across Pakistan, Nigeria, Kenya, and Cameroon — where it was first founded in honour of the founder and president Etchu-Tabe Besong Enowmpey’s late father Enowmpey Jacques Besong.

Its mission is to empower lives, strengthen communities, and continue the legacy of compassion and service that first inspired their foundation.

Etchu-Tabe Besong Enowmpey said the inspiration for the foundation came after she read a book titled “Mother Teresa.”

The foundation then began under the name Enowmpey’s Foundation, with its first community outreach visits to Bwinga-Tiko, and Tole-Buea, before in 2011 being renamed Crisscross Foundation to reflect its broader mission, and last August moving its base to Imperial Avenue in Leicester.
