DMU students invited to society start-up workshop

By Hannah Wiles

A workshop focused on students starting up their own societies is happening on Tuesday.

The event is organised by the Students’ Union and Give It a Go team to provide insights on how to start and run a society at DMU.

The free session invites students to create a personalised society logo alongside other students with similar interests.

Societies are student-run clubs catered to specific interests, who host sessions, events and run group chats for those in the society.

There are a wide range of societies already available at DMU, from the Minecraft Society to the True Crime Society or the Kurdish Society.

The Students’ Union is encouraging students to use the power of bringing people together with a niche hobby, interest or passion and create a society of their own.

Maryam, a member of DMU’s media society Demon Media, said: “I would start a society because I would love to organise it

“Being part of something where people can express their interests and make friends is so worth it.”

The event is from 11am – 5pm tomorrow (Tuesday January 13) at The Atrium in the Students’ Union building.

Tickets are free and available to purchase on the DSU website.
