A first-year DMU student’s indie band is releasing a new single next month.
Freddie Fawcett, music production student and bassist for The Pit Monkeys, is looking forward to their upcoming single Butterfly, set to drop this December.
Formed in 2023, the four-piece band met while studying at Bishop Stopford School, Kettering, starting with covers before writing original music.
Their sound blends alternative and indie influences, with Freddie drawing inspiration from Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher and The Stone Roses.
Despite members going to different universities, Freddie’s commute to DMU helped keep the band together.
Riding the success of their debut single Back of the Queue, Freddie is optimistic about what’s to come: “Leicester has a great music scene. We always want to expand, get some gigs over there.”
Butterfly is out at the end of this year on all major streaming platforms. Look out for upcoming gigs on their Instagram, @thepitmonkeys.
