Fireworks cause havoc at Leicester student flats

By Augustine Obiozor

Police were called to the Lumis student accommodation block in Leicester on Friday(NOV7) morning at about 6am after reports of university students carrying fireworks and aiming them at people inside.

Witnesses claimed that multiple young adults in masks ran past security at the flats in Southgates and let off rockets while dozens watched or ran away from the commotion towards the exit.

Security tried to stop the suspects. No injuries were reported, however furniture, several bins and doors were damaged.

Lumis later announced that there is a visitation restriction in place – only current tenants are allowed in the premises.
