Develop your career curve at the Curve Community Company in Leicester

By Yuti Patel

Aspiring actors from all backgrounds over the age of 18 will be able to curve out their careers at the Curve Theatre in Leicester in a series of workshops starting next month.

Students will be meeting up from 7pm to 9.30pm every Wednesday for 10 weeks to perform with one another in their groups in a fun and creative environment. The sessions will run from Wednesday, January 15, until Wednesday, March 26, with a break on February 12.

Elly Wall, receptionist at the Curve Theatre, said: “It’s been going on that night since I’ve been here, definitely for the past three or four years.

“It’s not free I’m afraid. It’s £120 for 10 weeks. But there are bursaries available.

“I don’t run the Curve Community Company, but there’s been a whole diversity of people taking part. They sign in to the sessions.”

The Curve Community Company will cover actor training, performances, including script work, audition techniques, TV acting and so much more.

To enhance film careers and work experience, students may also create their own work while being in sessions and have an opportunity to take part in filming a short film.

There’s no need for previous acting experience, just a passion for performing arts and acting.
