Skaters welcome new skatepark plans for Abbey Park

By Aiden Pearce

UK skatepark specialist company Maverick has had its design for an Abbey Park skating area approved, causing excitement amongst Leicester skaters.

The skatepark plans were announced by Leicester City Council two years ago, to be built in St Margaret’s Pastures next to Leicester’s Abbey Park, and the plan designs have now come together.

The design includes grind rails, ledges, and a range of flat bank ramps, with a bold and colourful coat of yellow and red paint.

Local dog walkers worry the skatepark will interfere with dog walking routes in Abbey Park.
