New health and wellbeing connections site launched for Leicestershire residents

By Christopher Okoye

A new service called Joy has been launched to improve healthcare by connecting individuals in Leicestershire with an array of tailored support services.

Launched in early May, Joy offers a diverse range of categories, from fitness classes to carer support, diabetes self-help groups, food banks and counselling.

Operating on the principle of ‘social prescribing,’ Joy facilitates connections to local activities, groups, and services to address practical, social, and emotional needs influencing health and wellbeing.

Dr. Alex Gupta, a GP doctor at DMU surgery, said: “The connection of GP practices to Joy before its launch is remarkable.

“It will revolutionise how GPs and our broader team guarantee our patients receive top-notch care and support during their visits to our surgeries.”

The joy website says: “We aim to simplify access to improved assistance for those most in need, whether it pertains to mental health support, increasing physical activity, or locating nearby support groups.”
