Challenge Fundraising is raising money for De Montfort University students

By Sara Doktorova

DMU is raising money to help students in financial difficulties and is urging people to take part in fundraising challenges.

Challenge fundraising was launched in November to encourage students, alumni or other industry individuals to either sign up and take part in challenges such as the London Marathon, triathlons, and swimming.

Or people can make their own challenge or set goals in their own athletic abilities.

The DMU team raises sponsorship through platforms such as Just Giving to collect money to support students through scholarships, opportunities or other funding sources for students.

There are many opportunities for people to get involved, including:

  • Running, swimming or cycling challenges
  • Triathlon
  • Duathlon
  • Aqua bike
  • Aquathlon

Paisley Tomlinson, 26, is a fundraising officer and said: “We are here to fundraise for DMU students, to ensure that they have equal opportunities via studying at the university, so that when opportunities do arise then there isn’t that financial stress or worry and that they will have the same educational experience.”

Challenge fundraising has been widely successful with various charitable causes, and an online toolkit has been set up to give more information about fundraising at DMU.
