Students are to hold a rally at Loughborough University tomorrow(FRI,MAY31) against Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bombing of Rafah in Gaza.
The demonstration, organised by Loughborough Action For Palestine, will be held on Loughborough’s Midlands campus from 3pm to 6pm.
Members of the public are invited to attend.
“We at Loughborough Action for Palestine cannot describe the horror we feel following the images that came from Gaza on Sunday night,” Loughborough Action For Palestine wrote on their Instagram page.
“We condemn in the greatest extent Loughborough University’s complicity in this genocide through financial partnership with AWE, BAE and Rolls-Royce and many more.”
The group wishes to see Loughborough University join calls for an immediate, permanent and unconditional ceasefire.
In addition, they want to see the university divest from a number of companies with ties to Israel, sign a treaty seeking to prevent partnerships between universities and arms dealers, grant scholarships and funding for Palestinian students and staff, establish links with Palestinian universities, and for the university to respect students’ rights to freedom of peaceful assembly.
“Abuse like this only happens because we allow it. Your voice matters and can change our university for good. COME AND MAKE HISTORY”, the group wrote.
