Student broadcaster Demon Media has announced it has put a team into this Saturday’s(JUNE1) Adam Redfern football tournament.
The tournament has become a yearly staple in Leicester, honouring the life of former De Montfort University (DMU) journalism student Adam Redfern, who died due to a heart attack while out jogging in 2021.

Mr Redfern was a part of Demon Media and was also the editor of The Demon magazine as well as having his own show on Demon FM.
He also played football for the university men’s team, and after graduating, worked for the DMU communications team.
The De Montfort Students’ Union, of which Mr Redfern was an executive member, will also be putting a team forward for the tournament, as well as other sports societies from DMU.
After his death, his parents, Ian and Christine, founded a memorial fund in his name, to raise money to give students with a flair for media, journalism and sport the opportunity to boost their career opportunities, as well as to raise awareness of cardiac risks in young adults.
The annual football tournament will be this Saturday(JUNE1), at the DMU sports ground at Beaumont Park, with teams competing from midday until 5pm.
