Delighted: Leicester City super fan, Donna Langton, 52

A Leicester City football supporter who recently moved away returned just to see the team she loves reign victorious once more, having followed their progress for over 50 years.

Following relegation from the Premier League last season, Leicester have flown right back up to the top tier after winning the 2023-2024 Championship title, despite a 0-2 loss against Blackburn at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Donna Langton, 52, has been a Leicester supporter all her life.

Following their latest title win, residents of Leicester and beyond were invited to join the team in a huge celebration and parade in the city centre on Sunday, with several thousand people turning out and painting the streets of Leicester blue in jubilation.

“I was heartbroken when they were relegated last season,” said Donna. “Being a Leicester City fan means everything to me so to see them go back up feels electric.”

She remains optimistic about the Foxes’ chances of winning the Premier League again – as they so famously did in the 2015-16 season – and does believe, although is unsure that they can do it straight away.

“It can be done. We play our hardest and can give it a shot. Leicester never gives up,” she added.

Donna said the level of emotion, pride and positive atmosphere could be felt very strongly on Sunday, with everyone coming together to commend and commemorate their team’s efforts.

“The atmosphere is lovely. You can tell everyone is happy. The best part of the day has just been seeing everyone smiling and enjoying a nice atmosphere where everyone can come together and celebrate,” she continued.

Donna and several thousand other Leicester fans are eagerly awaiting and anticipating the revelation of the fixtures for the Premier League 2024/25, Leicester’s first in two seasons, when they are revealed at 9am on Tuesday, June 15, along with the details and fixtures of the 19 other clubs taking part over the 38 game season.
