Stressed out students are being invited to relax and unwind by petting a group of visiting therapy dogs at a Woof Day at de Montfort University next week.
Adewola Adejumoke (Fluffy), 26, is the event organiser and coordinator of the Having a Woof Day! event being held on Wednesday, May 15, which aims to be a self-care bootcamp for students.
Fluffy said she wants students to be able to regulate and process their emotions in a healthy way and dog therapy really helps in facilitating this.
The event will take place at the Students’ Union building, in function room 1 upstairs, and Fluffy would like everyone to attend this event and said it will be amazing.
DSU and Fluffy are partnering up with RA Canine Therapist, a company known for being professional in offering great assistance through dog therapy sessions.
They have partnered up with them last year and they are continuing the initiative this year.
Morning sessions start from 10am to 12.05pm and afternoon sessions start from 12.45pm to 2.45pm.
Fluffy encouraged all students to go to the event sessions, in which therapy dogs will offer emotional support and comfort.
While some students may just rest, others can get involved in a range of activities to alleviate stress and promote relaxation.
The students may sit with the dogs or participate in therapeutic exercises with the dogs.
