A lifelong Leicester City fan described Saturday’s atmosphere at the King Power Stadium as ‘the best all season’ – despite a 2-0 loss for the newly-crowned league champions.
Having won the Championship title last Tuesday with a match to go by beating Preston 3-0 away from home, the Foxes returned to the King Power for their final game of the season but were beaten by Blackburn Rovers.
But the loss did not matter too much for Sasha Hebborn, 21, who said: “I had all the faith that we would go straight back up to the Premier League… but it’s nice to see first-hand.”
Although it was expected that Leicester City would get the promotion within a season of dropping down from the Premier League, with their steady spot at number one for the majority of the season, the win still brought joy to the fans.
“Most of the supporters have been celebrating since early this morning and I think that just shows their pride,” said Mrs Hebborn.
Even with the temporary setback of being charged for allegedly breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules still hanging over them, she added: “The atmosphere was the best it’s been all season.
“Everyone is just soaking up all the victory and enjoying the sun, it’s great to see the boys celebrate another title win within the last 10 years.“
The last game of the season saw a 0-2 loss at the King Power, but
Despite the 2-0 loss in the last game of the season, the King Power Stadium was still filled with victory for both sides with Blackburn beating relegation and Leicester City being promoted, and everyone felt triumphant.
The schedule for the new Premier League season will be released at 9am on Tuesday, June 18, filling the fans with anticipation for what’s to come.
