The streets of Leicester were awash with blue on Sunday, May 5, as supporters congregated in their thousands to celebrate the long awaited and triumphant return to the Premier League for Leicester City Football Club.
There were plenty of festivities to celebrate the herculean efforts of the Foxes, who won the English Championship league cup before their final match on May 4.
They beat 23 other teams to the title, their first league victory since winning the Premier League title nine years ago in 2016.
Fans were treated to a spectacular day of entertainment, with renowned Radio 1 Xtra DJ MistaJam spinning a variety of tunes to spectators outside the Haymarket balcony in his pre- parade warm up show.
Thousands gathered in front waiting to witness their team lift the Championship cup on the balcony.
Screens were erected across the city centre, in open spaces such as Humberstone Gate West and on Jubilee Square, to ensure those who could not get an elusive spot at the Clock Tower and surrounding areas did not miss any of the day’s events.
The spectacle of the day was the parade, featuring members of the Foxes, proudly displaying their well-earned trophy, on an open bus tour around the city centre.
It started in Northampton Street and finished at the Haymarket balcony where they gathered to triumphantly lift the trophy, a testament to the hard work, commitment and dedication put in by the club.
They proved that, despite relegation a year earlier from the Premier League, they could come back and achieve big.
Fans can now look forward to next season and hope Leicester can again win the Premier League title which they claimed in the 2015/16 season.
Their fixtures for the Premier League 2024/2025 are due to be released on Tuesday, June 18, at 9am, with the league matches slated to commence on the weekend of August 17.
