Leicester City fan group Union FS are 80% of the way to making their biggest tifo to date to thank Foxes legend Jamie Vardy for his years of service.

The talismanic striker signed from Fleetwood Town for £1 million in 2012 and is widely renowned as one of the best bargains in football history.

But with the 37-year-old’s contract coming to an end this summer and Leicester facing charges for allegedly breaking financial fair play rules, there are fears it could be his last few games for the club, ending his remarkable 12-year run.

Now, after fans donated almost £5,000 to a fundraising drive, Union FS are putting the finishing touches to a display paying homage to the city great at the last game of the season, against Blackburn.

Chris, from Union FS, said they felt like it was “now or never” to show their gratitude. He said: “It’s a thank you – and if it turns out it is his last game for us, it will be nice for it to end like that.”

He said they were very pleased with the response from Leicester fans who rallied to raise £4,700 – going above and beyond the target figure of £3,000.

Fans left comments when donating saying “how pleased they were to participate” to show how grateful they were for the Leicester City player.

Union FS have made waves in the football world, with some of Chris’ favourite tifos coming in the game against Nottingham Forest in 2023 and the one against Sevilla in Leicester’s historic Champions League run. But a planned tifo for long-standing Andy King was scrapped due to lockdown during the Covid era.

Union FS have urged Leicester City fans to be in their seats early to ensure the tifo reaches its full potential.
