Watch: Passionate Phoenix cinema programmer believes ‘independent’ is the way to go

Independent cinemas are on the rise, with more and more people choosing their local favourite rather than settling for the multiplex chains, according to a programmer at a Leicester venue.

Chloe Cusition, the assistant programmer at the Phoenix cinema in Leicester, is in charge of selecting what films to screen, a role that weighs on her shoulders in order to keep loyal customers coming back.

She told reporter Gemma West how important it is to have an independent cinema within the community and what it means to the people that visit.
