Around 40% of mature students are over the age of 30, according to UCAS, the University and Colleges Admissions Service.
Many are choosing to go to university to improve their career prospects.
Kelly Butler is a Nurse Associate who works in the community supporting patients living at home – but she’s also a De Montfort University student, studying for further nursing qualifications. She says it’s been difficult but worthwhile.
