Belvoir Street now closed for improvements

By Michal Okonski

One of Leicester’s busiest streets, Belvoir Street, is closed for up to seven months for improvements.

The works are part of the ‘Connecting Leicester’ scheme that aims to improve sustainable travel around the city centre by with increased pedestrian and bike access.

Around £300,000 is expected to be spent on resurfacing, which the council hopes will be easier to repair in the long term.

Belvoir Street saw its last revamp in 2017. The new project hopes to improve the look and feel of the area.

Pedestrian access is maintained between the junction with Granby Street and Bowling Green Street during the necessary construction.
