De Montfort University’s student advice and wellbeing team held a Wellbeing Wednesday session at the Students’ Union’s ‘pod’ for students to take part in relaxing activities.

After developing the idea of bunting, to help students relax away from the stresses of moving to a new city, it allowed several students to take part in something fun.

Hannah Underhill, part of the advice and wellbeing team at the DSU, said: “It is an initiative which originated as we wanted to provide a space for students to escape the busy campus lifestyle and check in on their wellbeing.

“This activity was inspired by our Freshers’ theme of ‘Make yourself at home’. We wanted to provide a space for those students unfamiliar with campus, Leicester and university to create a special memory that students could take home to hang within their safe space.”

Happening every Wednesday in The Pod, at the DSU campus centre building, organisers now have a more regular schedule after in recent years having issues with when they could host their sessions due to Covid-19.

Their next workshop from 11am to 2pm today (WED, Oct12) will be supporting Black History Month with the theme of ‘Colour and Chat’, and students are invited to turn up at the campus centre to get their relaxing fix.

RELAX: All set for a session to create colourful bunting.
