A new mural highlighting the key areas around De Montfort University’s campus has appeared at the River Soar entrance into Castle Gardens.
The mural has covered inappropriate graffiti, giving the area a safer feel for families walking down by the canal-side.
The artwork highlights Leicester’s Bede Park, Frog Island, De Montfort University, Castle Gardens and Friar’s Mill.

Students seem to like the new mural with first year mechanical engineering student Grace Bickley saying: “I like it better because it now looks neat and professional rather than a load of spray paint names on the wall.”
Forensic Science first year student Saran Hoffman James added: “It looks better than it did before. I see the bridge every day and the old graffiti made it look really messy. It gives the bridge and the river more colour and character and it seems to be attracting a lot of attention.”
