Rapid testing made available in Leicester to trace asymptomatic Covid carriers

By Shantelle Gondo

Leicester City Council is encouraging residents to take a rapid test to identify those who may be carriers of the coronavirus.

Rapid testing is currently available for those without coronavirus symptoms at six sites in Leicester from 8am to 4pm during the week and from 10am to 5pm on weekends.

The six centres are Leicester Adult Education College, Coleman Neighbourhood Centre, Eyres Monsell Community Centre, Fosse Neighbourhood Centre, Hamilton Library and Tudor Community Centre.

Lists of Leicester’s six rapid testing centres

Leicester City’s rapid testing programme has identified more than 90 asymptomatic Covid carriers so far.

Anyone who tests positive is required to take a confirmatory PCR test – which gives a more accurate result, therefore must self-isolate for 10 days and all close contacts will be traced and asked to self-isolate too.

For more information on rapid testing centres visit: https://www.leicestershirecommunities.org.uk/rapid-community-testing.html ; or contact the rapid testing centres listed above individually.
