Student accommodations accommodate rent suspensions over COVID-19

By Kira Gibson

All of the accommodation providers within Leicester housing DMU and UoL students have sent out emails regarding payments for the upcoming terms.

The DMU halls have said that they will be suspending any rent payments for the remainder of this term and the beginning of next (after Easter).

Unite Students have stated that any student not staying in any of their blocks after the Easter term begins will not have to pay their rent for that term.

Student Roost have made a statement saying that if you have chosen to move out of the residence because of COVID-19, from the 1st May 2020, they will credit the tenants that have already moved out of their rooms. They also are operating an early release scheme from the contracts with no charge for cancelling the tenancy early.
