Daniel Iversen's Rotherham loan in doubt as teammate recalled by Newcastle United

Leicester City goalkeeper Daniel Iversen is facing uncertainty around his loan spell at Rotherham United.

The 22-year-old is currently on a season-long loan with the League One club, who have two players in self-isolation despite the resumption of first team training.

One of those players self-isolating with symptoms is Iversen’s goalkeeping colleague Lewis Price, whose brother has tested positive for Covid-19.

Forward Freddie Ladapo, formerly of Crystal Palace, is also following the UK government’s self-isolation advice after showing symptoms of the virus.

Rotherham’s midfield loanee Daniel Barlaser has returned to parent club Newcastle United to assure he is isolating himself, rather than taking part in the Millers’ training sessions.

Leicester’s stance on Iversen training with Rotherham United remains unclear, as with all the Foxes’ other loan players.

“I’m not sure if Leicester have made a decision on Daniel’s loan yet,” said a source. “In my opinion, it’s not ideal that he’s training there amid the current government advice.

“Having said that, he’s there for the rest of the season so Leicester may trust the Rotherham staff to keep him fit and healthy during this period.”

This group includes Welsh midfielder George Thomas, who is on loan at Dutch side ADO Den Haag, managed by Alan Pardew.

Other Leicester loanees include Islam Slimani (both Monaco), Fousseni Diabaté (Amiens) and Rachid Ghezzal (Fiorentina).

Leicester City have released a statement to support the Football Association’s decision to further postpone games until April 30 and to guarantee that the 2019-20 season will be played to a conclusion.
