A donkey was saved by a fire and rescue team in Ibstock on Thursday morning (JAN23) after being trapped up to his stomach in mud.
Joey the donkey was aided by a team from Coalville fire station after a call was made just after 9am.
The team arrived to see the animal was stuck along a trail near Victoria Road, Ibstock, surrounded by a large amount of mud and dirt.
His owner was present as he was sedated by a veterinarian to calm him down as the team of helpers started to release him from the ground.
Additional help from Leicester South fire station arrived, and dug into the mud around him to free him.
He was quickly rescued from being a stick-in-the-mud before safely being returned to his stable.
The Coalville fire station tweeted, “Good work and great teamwork from the Coalville and South teams to free Joey the donkey from the mud this morning.”
“A very happy and safe conclusion in arduous conditions.”
