Residents of Leicester were yesterday told to avoid the area near the Clocktower in the city centre which was closed due to liquids leaking out of one of the street sweeping vehicles.
The area was cordoned off with tape shortly after midday; council highways staff had laid down sand to absorb the majority of the chemicals.
Leicester City Council tweeted about the event that occurred in the city centre.
Sorry, folks! One of our street cleaning vehicles spilled its load by #ClockTower in #Leicester city centre. Our cleansing staff are tidying up the mess but please avoid that area if you can until further notice… #ServiceUpdates
