DMU Art Network created to help graduates

By Jacob Moseley

De Montfort University recently launched its ‘Art Network’ to help art students find work after they graduate.

A 2015 survey by UCAS showed more than 45,000 students were accepted onto Art-based courses in that one summer but this rise in popularity means the number of professional jobs in creative industries are  becoming more limited.

Former DMU Art student Ian Hawthornwaite, who is currently searching for jobs, said: “I don’t think there are enough resources for any students after they leave education, but especially art degrees.”

The event is aiming to tackle this and will take place at “The Mill” from 6:00PM – 7:30PM on the 1stof February.
