Leicester takeaway Bombay Bites bids to win East Midlands best takeaway award

An Indian restaurant in Leicester has made it into the final five of the East Midlands region at the British Takeaway Awards.

Bombay Bites on Evington Road is joined in the finals by two other takeaways from Leicester; Chris’s Fish and Chips and Square Pizza Company.

Ahmed Wahid, owner of Bombay Bites, said: “We’re in the finals and we want to win it, but it’s great recognition, we’re proud of what the team has been able to do and this is actually our third year in the British Takeaway Awards so hopefully third time is a charm.”

Each of the finalists will  be scored on a mystery shopping experience, and have been asked to provide a submission on why they deserve to win.

A celebrity panel of judges will determine the winner, including chef Ainsley Harriott, Graham Corfield UK Managing Director of Just Eat and former star of Dragons’ Den Sarah Willingham.

All of the nominated finalists from 13 regions across the UK have been invited to the national British Takeaway Awards on November 27 at The Savoy in London.
