Since 2014, the Confucius Institute has been organising activities and events for students and the public to take part in.

The institute also runs lessons in many schools in Leicester and the surrounding areas.

Now, as the institute expands, there is the opportunity for Mandarin-speaking students to get involved with the teaching of Mandarin in primary schools.

There is also a chance for students to be involved with the cultural activities organised by the institute.

Confucius institute co-ordinator Wing Cheng said: “Opportunities will be posted on My Gateway for students to check.

“Everyone is welcome to take part, and people from many different cultures have already signed up for Mandarin classes.”

The Confucius Institute is located on the first floor of the new Vijay Patel building.
