Traditional rivals Newcastle and Sunderland are vying to produce the first results.

John Curtice says YouGov are saying 52-48 for Remain.

BBC reporting Farage thinks Remain has edged it.

East Midlands votes being collated in Kettering, just down A6 from Leicester, but results from rural districts, such as nearby Harborough, are not expected until 6 or 7am.

Just how long will the excitement and expectation keep us awake?
