Hogarths Gin Palace was a roaring success when it officially opened its doors on Friday.
The bar, located on Hotel Street, offers over 150 flavours of gin and 20 different tonics as well as unique cocktails and craft ales.
Customer Louisa Codling, 19, said: “Hogarths is just what the Leicester bar scene needed. The mix of the local pub and fancy gin bar works perfectly.”
The new Leicester location is the seventh Hogarths to open in the UK following successful launches in South Shields, Preston, Bolton, Wakefield, Ilkeston and Swansea by parent company Amber Taverns.
The former Square Bar location has been fully renovated and remodelled, with a library meets traditional public house feel.
Speaking to the Leicester Mercury, Gary Roberts, operations director at Amber Taverns said: “After the launch of our first Hogarths in Bolton in October 2014, we quickly identified a number of potential sites with the former Square Bar in Leicester being close to the top of the list – both for its location in the city centre and its fantastic architecture.”
The new addition to the city centre’s bar scene is the second gin bar to open on Hotel Street in recent months, with 45 West opening late last year.
Miss Codling said: “I think Hogarths works really well because it isn’t just focused on the gin, it’s still very much a place you could use to meet up with friends and have a mid-week pint.”
With an extensive range of spirits, craft beers, classic and contemporary cocktails and of course gin, Hogarths has something for everyone to enjoy.
Mr Roberts said: “Hogarths Gin Palaces create a fantastic venue for a quick pint, gin or a chilled evening out.”
