Video documentary: Why Mark Townsend’s story and the Lauren’s Legacy campaign highlight how defibrillators are vital in all football stadiums

Mark Townsend had a cardiac arrest and died at Hillsborough during Sheffield Wednesday’s football match on September 28, 2024, against West Bromwich Albion. Reporter George Kirk investigates his death and the importance of defibrillators, explores public awareness of the matter and finds out what more needs to be done to ensure fans have the best chance of survival

Mark Townsend’s brother, Steve Townsend recalls the tragic events that occurred at Hillsborough on that fateful day and Paul ‘Tango’ Gregory of The Red Sky Foundation explains the importance of mounted defibrillators in football stadiums, as well as of raising awareness for the Lauren’s Legacy-One in Every Corner Campaign.

In this investigative documentary, football fans also discuss what they know about defibrillators, how to use them and where they are in their stadium.

The Red Sky Foundation has a goal to provide one defibrillator in every corner in every football ground in the 92 in the English Football League and the Premier League.

Please check out the Red Sky Foundation page for more information on this charity and to donate to a great cause, as well as to find out more about the Lauren’s Legacy campaign.
