What if Juliet’s story didn’t end in tragedy? What if she could have another shot at life, ditch dopey Romeo, and reinvent herself? Find out in &Juliet – the Olivier Award-winning musical created by David West Read, the writer behind Schitt’s Creek.
This laugh-out-loud musical, which enjoyed a lengthy run in London’s West End, is directed by Luke Sheppard (Starlight Express) and choreographed by Jennifer Weber (The Hip Hop Nutcracker).
The production flips William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet on its head, imagining a world in which Juliet decides to toss Romeo aside and live on her own terms.
With the witty Anne Hathaway – Shakespeare’s wife, not the actress – guiding the way, Juliet embarks on a journey of self-discovery fuelled by a supercharged soundtrack packed with iconic pop songs by Swedish producer Max Martin, including Katy Perry’s Roar and Ellie Goulding’s Love Me Like You Do.
Catch &Juliet on its first-ever UK tour at Milton Keynes Theatre from Monday, March 31 to Saturday, April 12, 2025.
The cast includes British singers Jay McGuiness from The Wanted (as William Shakespeare) and Lee Latchford-Evans from Steps (as Lance). “I’ve really missed singing and dancing as the last thing I did was a play, so I’m excited to get back into it. And I love the &Juliet costumes, especially Shakespeare’s,” said McGuiness.
Whether you’re a Shakespeare superfan, musical aficionado, or just love a great night out, David West Read’s inventive reboot of the bard’s legendary tale promises to deliver unmissable entertainment that’ll leave you singing all the way home.
Missing this theatrical tour de force would be a tragedy of Shakespearean proportions.
Tickets start from £13. Visit atgtickets.com. &Juliet plays Nottingham Theatre Royal from April 14-19 and Birmingham Hippodrome from April 22 to May 3.
The performance runs for two hours and 30 minutes, including an interval. &Juliet is considered suitable for ages eight and above due to some strong language. This production contains flashing lights and loud noises.
