Jorja on my mind

English RnB singer Jorja Smith has shared another new single ‘Little Things’ in preparation for her upcoming second album ‘Falling or Flying’.

The vocalist made her return to the charts with the single ‘Try Me’.

After a highly successful debut album five years ago that put Jorja’s name at the top of the RnB industry I had high expectations for her new album and her new singles didn’t disappoint.

Her confident new track, ‘Try Me’ is a message of empowerment to her fans. The song is a reminder that you are your only critic and others’ opinions shouldn’t matter and hold you back from pursuing your dreams.

The track is a haunting ballad with mesmerising vocals from Smith.

The use of fast drumming and percussion at the start of the song is commanding and brash but throughout the song, it slowly transitions into a delicate melody when the string instruments come in.

This reflects Smith’s ongoing conflicting battle with not feeling good enough and trying to be more assertive and change.

‘Try Me’ is one of Smith’s emotional songs which is a contrast to her most recent single ‘Little Things’.

‘Little Things’ is an immediate mood booster and party starter that’s perfect for the summer season

Listeners can immediately imagine themselves listening to ‘Little Things’ on the beach, on holiday and in the club all summer long.

The song explores the allure of “the little things” about Smith’s love interest that sets her heart ablaze, leaving her utterly smitten.

The drums, keyboard and bass add to the fun element of the song.

The track mixes jazz, soul, pop, and RnB to create the ultimate funky vibes.

“Little Things” is more uptempo than her release, “Try Me“, Its captivating rhythms and melodies weave a spell so powerful that you’ll find it hard to tear yourself away from the dance floor.

With the two released singles, we can expect big things from Jorja Smith and yet another top album.

Smith’s debut album, ‘Lost and Found’ debuted at #4 on the UK charts in 2018.

The album introduced Jorja Smith as a formidable artist.

With its blend of R&B, soul, and jazz elements, the album showcases Smith’s soulful voice, introspective lyrics, and versatility as a musician.

‘Try Me’ and ‘Little Things’ are available across all streaming platforms.

Jorja Smith’s new album, ‘Falling or Flying’ is available September 29.
