The Diwali celebrations in Belgrave return in person after last year’s virtual event on Sunday [OCT24], seeing a number of the city’s streets closed to traffic.
Visitors are advised to walk, cycle or use public transport to get to the event to ease the congestion around the event as parking will also be limited.
Belgrave Road will be partially closed between Belgrave Circle and Garfield Street from 2pm, while the rest of Belgrave Road at the Melton Road and Loughborough Road end will be closed from 5pm, with the lights being switched on at 6.30pm.
The road will re-open around 9.30pm.
To make the festivities Covid-19 secure, giant screens will be showing a pre-recorded programming from 5.30pm on Belgrave Road, Wand Street and Cossington Park.
A special Park and Ride service will run from Birstall Park and Ride site to Abbey Park Road from 4pm until 8pm, with return journeys from 8.30pm to 10pm.
