Leicester Business Festival 2020 almost entirely moved online

The annual Leicester Business Festival (LBF) has had to move a larger percentage of its events online because of COVID-19.

The sixth running of the festival will still go ahead and take place from Monday (NOV02) to Friday (NOV13) but with 99.9 per cent of activities switched online.

The LBF) claims to be the region’s largest business showcase, featuring more than 100 inspiring events every year over a two-week period and De Montfort University is the headline partner.

Project manager Elisa said: “First running in 2015, it was the first two-week business festival ever to be run in the UK.

“Each year, the festival sees over 100 events and around 7,000 attendees. Not only is it the largest business event in the region but it has become Leicester and Leicestershire’s annual economic showcase.

“Events of all descriptions are staged by local businesses to help business growth; challenge and stimulate. The festival is also a fantastic way to draw attention to the region as it demonstrates the strengths, innovation, commerce, culture, and huge investment potential to the rest of the world.

“LBF is operated by the Leicester Business Festival Community Interest Company (CIC) and run in association with Associate Events. It is a non-profit making entity and if any money is made, it is re-invested back into the festival to make it bigger, better, and more effective.

“The entire festival is run by business, for business and while there is an organisation providing the infrastructure to organise and promote the festival itself, event organisers, partners and supporters take the lead in organising events and collectively set the agenda and programme each year.”

De Montfort University works alongside companies to provide professional development courses, develop product ideas, and identify commercial opportunities.

DMU aims to be the business partner of choice for companies looking to develop and grow in Leicestershire. It has been transformed with a £136 million reimagining of the campus that has created a modern, inspiring environment and is a bold statement of confidence in the university and the city.
