The Government has announced its plans to help the nation celebrate Christmas during the pandemic as we move into the festive season.
Throughout the UK, there are ongoing restrictions and different lockdown rules meaning this Christmas will be completely different compared to the past.
Since the March lockdown, coronavirus prevented many social gathering events throughout the year. Traditionally, Christmas is a time you spend with family and there have been rules put in place to ensure everyone has a good time.
However, some restrictions will be lifted in certain areas whereas some places will be strict restrictions put into place.
As Leicester still has high covid case numbers they are remaining in tier 3 from December 2, 2020.
From December 2, the restrictions are the following
- no mixing of households
- hospitality will be closed
- retail shops will be open
- everyone who can work from home should do so
- large events should not take place
- 15 guests at weddings and 30 for funerals
- schools and universities will remain open
