A team of volunteers from Our Solutions CIC will be sleeping on the streets on the 2nd of November, to hand out food and raise awareness for the struggle of being homeless during COVID-19.
The idea came from one of the volunteers who used to be homeless and found support at Our Solutions CIC.
The team will be staying out from 6.30pm to 6.30am, to recognise first hand the harsh reality of homelessness.
To prevent large gatherings they have made the decision to not disclose their location, but are raising money to buy hygiene products, food and other useful goods to hand out on the streets.
Vimi Seewooruthun, Our Solutions CIC’s director, said: “We want to raise awareness and support homeless as much as possible to reintegrate them in society.
“Our team of volunteers have been through different things in life, some have been through depression, others through anxiety, a lot of different things. But all they want now is to do different projects which can help them give back to the society,” she added.
The Our Solutions CIC is a mental health organisation providing holistic support, advice, guidance, advocacy and intervention.
