Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Jamie Vardy is available for tonight’s Europa League game against AEK Athens.
Vardy suffered a calf injury in training and missed the Foxes’ games against Aston Villa in the Premier League and Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League. However, he returned as a substitute against Arsenal on Sunday and scored the winning goal.
Speaking at his virtual press conference yesterday, Rodgers said: “The plan was to play him in the last 30 minutes. You can see how the dynamic changes when he comes on.
“He’s a world class striker. He’s travelled and available to play if selected.”
Vardy has never played in the Europa League before. During Leicester’s Champions League campaign in the 2016-17 season, he scored two goals in nine appearances.
Tonight’s game will kick off at 5:55pm.
