Thousands of Leicester City football fans came together in remembrance on Saturday (19 OCT) for a unified walk marking the one year anniversary of the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of then Leicester City FC chairman, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, and four others.
The march started at 1.15pm at the Magazine Gateway on the De Montfort University campus before culminating at the site of the crash at the King Power Stadium just before the scheduled match with Burnley FC – the same team faced after last year’s memorial.
An air of shock spread rapidly throughout the city on 27 October last year as the helicopter, carrying Mr Srivaddhanaprabha and four others, spiralled out of control as it left the stadium following Leicester City’s match against West Ham United.
The memorial garden for those who died will officially open to the public with a ceremony this Sunday (27 OCT) for fans and the public to come and lay flowers in remembrance.
